Alpha Amateurs
Last nite we were at auntie ruby’s house.
We’re
planning to help out at an Alpha run at her place. This is something
quite new for us. We’ve attended Alpha, brought friends to Alpha but
never really helped out with Alpha.
So James is going to be helping out
in leading and i’m gonna be part of the prayer team.
After hanging out
with youths so much, it was quite strange to hang out with so many
adults, fellowshipping over real dinner (mind you it was full course
dinner over the dinner table with real cutlery & dinner plans &
dessert n all ala Martha Steward Peranakan style – something both James
& i are not very used to, we’re more used to help yourself, paper
plates n plastic cups), planning and praying with them. It got quite
funny towards the end when everyone started to losen up when we played
a inpromtu game to practise for Alpha ice-breaker. uncle harold was
hilarous harold. He’s a funny old man that’s so full of life. Suddenly
everyone became like family. We ended with singing round the keyboard
as he played.
We’re both quite excited to be involved as a couple… God’s been
putting in us a specific burden to reach the lost in our generation -
post-modern urban youth. Alpha is a start for us, learning from the “pros”. As we pray, God’s been sending people our way
to pray for and to minister to. He’s also been sending people to
inspire us, people that have gone before us to partner n encourage us.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own
understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your
paths straight.” Prov 3:5-6
Exciting.
