Sophie’s I hate broccoli face
ooooooooo Sophie’s getting harder to deal with these days!
Argh! She’s been so good past few weeks and then suddenly the grouchy sophie is back! It better be like what some pp say it’s a growth spurt OR teething OR just one of those bad days.
She’s acquired a few bad habits.
One, spitting! Ka pui! (This came with her ability to blow raspberries) Yah so now i have broccoli bits on my clothes while feeding her.
Two, mummy i want to be carried! N only mummy no one else! Argh! I really don’t know where this came about coz she was so good n could sit in her pram for hours before whining. Ok those days are gone.
This is her refusing to eat her broccoli. It got all over her n onto her new GAP pyjamas that i just got for her! Heh… actually it’s not that bad lah… i mixed it w sweet potatoes later and she finished it all up. She really loves her food! Btw, broccoli puree smells really NASTY! w a capital NASTY! Broccoli poo’s worse!

aiyo! I have!
i trick her sometimes… i mix it w sweet potatoes n then suddenly i give her a spoonful of just cauliflower n she gets all confused but she takes it! Wah hahah… But you’re right, it tastes horrid. But it’s made me appreciate original flavors of veggies/fruits. Even in my cooking now, i use more veggies. Yah me, the one that doesn’t eat veggies.

Ha ha it’s great isn’t it, being a mother, you realise change has got to start with yourself

i seriously think you tortured her with the brocolli. some adults can’t even eat brocolli on its own least of all yucks! pureed! you must learn to mask the awful taste to get her to eat it. come to think of it, issit a new fad for babies, this eating brocolli and cauliflower thing? never fed my children such last time.

Wahaha…. you mean you’ve never tortured the gals w broccoli n cauliflower?!?! Lucky them!
Yah… apparently the theory goes, we need to intro them to diff tastes so that they will not become fussy eaters… at least that’s what the books say… how what you think?
Heh… i’ve been masking the taste of awful veggies w sweet potatoes. I just got another pumpkin so gonna use that too. But she still eats lah so it’s good… wah hahah…

your theory is right but i think she is a bit young for such exotic taste buds. sometimes can put them off if you give them too much, so don’t overdo it. they will still reject some foods as they grow older even though you may feed them with it everyday since the day they are born. the trick is not to let them out of the high chair unless they finish whatever is given. train them when they are still young….if you give in, then you will be slave to their taste buds forever. my friends used to say i’m a gestapo or something but hey, all my girls eat anything (almost!) given to them and they love veggies and eat salads without dressings…. my track record is 100%!!

hahahaha… i was LAUGHING and LAUGHING when i saw dear sophie’s face. She’s like, HUH? Why the greens?
reminded me of a question someone wrote:
Why is it that a toddler will try eating toilet paper more than 5 times before he finally decides he doesn’t like it, yet he won’t even try broccoli once? (http://smootie.blogspot.com...)
smile.
