Sophie is 14 mths!
Dearest Sophie,
You’ve started to call me "mamee"! Finally! At times when we ask you "where’s mamee?", you’ll point at dadee. But still, you’re finally calling me!
You’re starting to tell us what you want and not just repeating after us – eat!, ter ter! (for water), ju ju (for pacifier), nap nap, nanananana (for banana), read! (when you want me to read to you) etc… Phew! Finally I don’t have to keep figuring out what you want. Now I know why you whined so much coz you’re one insistent little one. When you want your ju ju, you say it like that "jujujujujuju! jujujujujuju!". I guess in the past it was cry whine cry whine. You literally demand with an exclamation mark when you want something.
I love it that we can communicate like that. It feels really good to know what is it that you want. It’s starting to feel like you are a real little person! It must have been really frustrating for you in the past with your blur mommy not being sure of what you want. I can see how happy you are when we get it nowadays.
You love it when we have little "chats", sing and read together, although you hardly sit still these days.
When we ask "Who’s Sophie?", you’ll say "Me!". Hahaha that’s so cute and we’re teaching you to say your name. So far you’ll say "phie".
You are really a little genius when it comes to words and sounds. You pick them up almost instantly with great accuracy. Wow! Uncle Adrian says that he read somewhere that babies that speak early with accurate pronunciation show great promise to become a music genius!
Recently I’ve been letting you crawl around at the playground and climbing the slides and stairs and you love it! It was a bit yucky for me at first but I thought it’ll be a great way to build up your strength and to help you expand your energy. Your knees and hands get really dirty but seeing you bubble over with joy just makes me so happy too. You really enjoy having that space to explore. BUT it takes a bit of coaxing to get you home coz you’ll protest when we’re leaving the playground… I thought that only happened much later… sigh…
You’re also starting to protest against the stroller (amongst many other things e.g. sleep, diaper changing etc). Once we try to put you in, you’ll scream but oh wells, too bad, that’s a non-negotiable darling.
You need to learn that in life, there are some non-negotiables and we as your parents will make sure you know what they are. Hopefully in 20 years time, you’ll look back and thank us.
Experiencing all these with you really makes staying home with you all so worth it! You are really one amazing girl.
Love
Mommy
