No TV Day 4 & 5
Day 4
We spent Day 4 stuffed with activities – in the morning, I took Sophie to West Coast for sun, sea and sand (lovely!) and we had lunch at Macs and in the afternoon, Sophie had playdates all the way till dinner time and again, I took the easy way out and we had dinner downstairs! The good thing about living around here is that I can get good and pretty healthy food almost anywhere!
So, we managed pretty well without the goggle box and James and I finally got down to porting my computer (YES! I inherited his MacBook). But……… we were really struggling. So tempting to just turn on the TV while we do boring stuff like porting computers.
Couples out there, what on earth do you do at home before you sleep n when the kids are fast asleep???? I mean things like watching TV, checking emails, putting up the laundry, cooking etc, having friends over, NOT COUNTED!
But I’ve been enjoying our early family dinner time coz normally Sophie eats first and we eat when she sleeps at about 8pm, in front of the telly. Argh. To think that we survived life without the TV until Sophie came along! Of course we still had DVDs but not every night.
Note to self: Need to find alternative entertainment – Scrabble? *Knock head*
Day 5
A, Sophie n T cuddling and watching TV
Sophie and I had plans to go with some friends to the zoo but some fell ill and it started to rain so we decided to hide at Brenda’s house. The girls had a wild time riding cars and rolling on the bed. Ok I had a wild time ride on the car.
Ooo but the TV was left on so Sophie plonked herself on the sofa and was watching it most of the time until I had to ask Brenda to help by switching it off when we had lunch. It’s so true, when the TV is on, the kids are not really playing.
By the time we made it back, we were too late to go for Cell Mums Grp! So we had to give it a miss. Instead after Sophie’s non-existent nap (she slept in all 15 mins on our way home and woke up once i tried to put her down!), we invited Summer and Kyla to come over! They had a ball! Again, some rolling on the bed. What’s it with kids and beds??! Or is it just my little one? Sophie loves to invite her friends onto our bed and roll around and giggle! So funny! She does that with Evan, Kyla and with A when we were over at Bren’s!
After that, Ye ye and Ma ma came and we had dinner with them. So once again, we made it thru the day, only coz I didn’t cook.
OK………….. we’re almost thru the week. One thing I realised? Sophie seems to be getting better at playing on her own since we turned off the TV! I can be napping on the sofa for a bit and she’ll be busy around the house. I think TV really dulls the imaginative mind and overstimulates to a point it cannot be replicated so the child is constantly looking for excitment. Hmmmmm…. what now?

She looks like a lil lady now and soon she’ll be a heartbreaker… ok, maybe that’s a bit too far ahead, but you get the idea). When will you be in brissy?
