Growing up – Injections and play

James is away on reservist so I’ve been on my own pretty much thru the day, which is rare. I think sometimes I take for granted that he’s so nearby and I can call him to come home anytime if I needed help with Sophie or a break. :)

I took Sophie to Dr B’s on my own yesterday. This was only the second time. Most times James comes with me. I’m normally ok on my own but this time she was going to do her vaccines! I’d prefer if he was around but I didn’t want to delay because we have already delayed it for so long because she hasn’t been well. She’s been well for a long time now, didn’t fall sick during the trip etc so I thought it’s a great time! So I went on my own!

Turned out really well. When we got in, Sophie asked for her injections. It was so funny coz she’s been looking at my BCG mark and asking what it is so, I told her it was an injection I had when I was young. Daddy is a medic so he came home from camp with a plaster on his arm and she asked what it was (and they do cruel things like puncture (hee) each other to practise for injections) and he told her it was an injection. SOOOOOOO Sophie wanted one too! So funny lah. She finally got them – 2 in fact at a go! Left and right thigh! Ouch! She cried for a bit when the needles came out and ate her raisins and was fine.

Wasn’t so bad after all. Phew! It’s so much easier to pacify her these days – either talk to her or give her food. It normally works.

Oh yes and she’s grown! Wt – 10.5 kg, Ht – 86 cm! She’s tall! She was 10.4 kg and 82 cm just in August.

After that we went to the toyshops and playground at Paragon. Since coming back from Australia, we noticed that she is a lot stronger physically and much more confident at the playgrounds, must be all the climbing up and down stairs. They don’t have lifts as much as we do. So I was very proud and happy to see her happily maneuvering around the equipments with ease, just needing a little help down the slides. She’s finally gotten over her fear of slides! Praise the Lord! I think it just took her a little while more compared to other kids but it’s so good to see her enjoying herself.
