Week 41!

Baby's still in the oven!

I'm almost a week overdue, really praying that the little one will be born today but the contractions stopped this morning. The midwife in town has said that if baby's still not here by tomorrow, we'll need to be referred to Waikato Hospital which is an hour away and they'll probably recommend for baby to be induced. I'm not keen to do that so pls keep us in prayer!

Meanwhile, I'm coping alright and we had a great weekend with a baby shower and a trip to the beach Tauranga on Sunday. See more weekend photos on Flickr.

Why are we waiting?

One day pass the due date and we're still waiting for the prince to arrive! I had some contractions early this morning but once I was wide awake, it was gone!

It's great that James' parents are here. They arrived on Tuesday and have been cooking everyday for us since. It also takes my mind off waiting coz they are happy to drive around to explore and take photos everyday (My FIL is an avid photographer.) Some days I get to rest at home and most of the time I still join them. With my mum in law helping with the cleaning up after meals, it has really freed me up to enjoy my time with Sophie. This time is so precious and I'm treasuring it although we all can't wait to see the little boy.

So do pray with us that the little one will make his appearance soon in the most natural of ways. Thanks!

Dress up

Dressing up is a big thing here. They sell kids' costumes like fairy, princess, batman, superman, nurse etc everywhere. It's pretty affordable as well.

Sophie LOVES dressing up. I've set aside a big bag for all her dress up things – scraps that I find everywhere e.g scarfs, bags, necklaces etc. When her friends come over, they have a ball! Sometimes the boys end up wearing her shoes too!

Sophie made a new friend on this school. Her name is Talya and she's 9. Talya came over last week and they took turns to dress up and perform to crazy songs that they make up. Super funny!

Here's Sophie in her Indian costume that her grandaunt bought for her, my new handbag and her Uggs. Totally her own creation. Doing an Indian dance.

Spring

It's still really cold and rainy but I think Spring is ALMOST HERE!

The flowers are starting to bloom! The insects and flies are returning!

Sophie’s recent artworks

Sophie stopped drawing for a bit and then all of a sudden started picking up the pens and drawing again. And I'm amazed that her ability to control and draw has just improved heaps over this time! Kids' drawings are amazing and I must make it a point to record this.

The picture on the left is of the A-frame (our communal dining hall. Here's a real picture of it.). She's drawn an apple tree on the left and orange tree on the right and someone on a ladder climbing the orange tree.

The picture on the right is the princess castle and she's drawn a princess on a horse with a golden ball. She was trying to copy the cover of a book called Princess Fairy.

Like Bees to Honey

I think I must be just ooozing Mummy…… we were having dinner at a friends' and this little boy just came up to me and plonked himself on my lap and sat there for the longest time!!!!!

He's SO CUTE!

At least he didn't puke or poo. Good boy this one!

I understand k?

Ok… the Chinese lessons are definitely working.

Twice I caught myself trying to tell James something over Sophie's head in Chinese, hoping that she didn't understand and each time she did.

Just a few days ago, I told James in Chinese, "Don't give her too much ice cream, just a little will do" and immediately Sophie looked up at me and said back in Chinese "No! More!"…. sigh… gone are the days we can talk "behind her back"!

Need to find a new language! :) :)

2 weeks to EDD!

Here's me two more weeks to due date!

I find that with this pregnancy, we haven't been taking much pictures of the bump. I guess with the second one, the novelty of a growing bump is not like when we had Sophie! :) But I thought we must really take a picture before he pops so there!

Tea at Robert Harris

Once a week, we try to go down to town for tea as a family. Just to chill and hang out.

Sophie's very happy with her fluffy/baby chino and her cookie at Robert Harris, a coffee joint in town.

Lunch on the Base

James cooks lunch everyday for the base. Thought I'll get a picture of a normal lunch on the base. We had pizza bread last week.

One satisfied customer! :)

My new hottie

I've been having trouble sleeping. Apparently it's baby No 2 resting on a nerve of mine. There's a sharp pain from my lower back to my left butt when I sleep. Anyways. Midwife suggested getting a wheat sac to heat up and rest on it.

So I'm going to try to sleep with my new hottie tonight. Praying that it'll soothe the pain a little and I can get some sleep for the next two weeks before baby comes!

P/s ok I also got it coz it just looks so pretty.

Count on me Singapore

Left: Nelson and the flag

Right: Curry chicken, oyster omelette, stewed pork, stir fry beef, bittergourd with egg

Happy National Day one and all!

In true Singaporean style, we cooked up a storm for our new Singaporean friends Nelson and Gina. They brought the flag and the patriotic songs. Gina was a preschool teacher and she seriously had a compilation of THE SONGS.
