Scouts to the rescue

It’s amazing how James and i can pile up our ironing! Thank God
the Scouts came knocking on our doors that day…. heh James got them
to do our ironing for a small donation. THANK YOU BOYS!

p/s so sorry the post is so late. auntie here was busy. heh

Rest……. much needed

Oh wow! The weather is amazing today. It’s rainy and windy… my favourite…

James n i has just been relaxing around the house the whole day today
enjoying the breeze coming thru the house. It’s amazing how wind can
really calm us down and remind us so much of not being in singapore.
Actually for me it reminds me a bit of being in australia.

This morning we woke up early to send Mark B off at the taxi stand to the airport.

After that we had breakfast at coffee bean. That’s been an ideal plan
since we’re living in holland BUT we’ve never gotten up earlier enough
or our schedules have just been too busy to do sth like that.

SO, after a busy but exciting week of praying with people, celebrations
& attending awards, hosting etc… today has been ideal. A time to
just slow down and thank God for a wonderful week that has just passed.

“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labour and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God.
On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or
daughter…. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth,
the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day.
Therefore, the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy” Exo
20:8-11

THings you Do whiLe clothes are in the WaSh

1. Blog
2. Read other people’s blogs

4. Listen to same CD for 3 times
5. Hang No 2 round of washing
6. Vacuum house
7. Go to Friendster and check how many friends you have (ok, i’m not
crazy about this but it’s really quite fun when you have absolutely
nothing to do. Sorry to all the people who have sent messages n
contacted me since last year n i hv not added you on. I didn’t know
that people are still using it so frequently!)

Ok, i’ve done all that and i’m still waiting for the last round!
Hurray! I’m washing the floor mats that have not been washed since we
moved in! HAHA! All those people who have used our toilets and stepped
on the mats to clean their feet! HAHA! anyways… it’s being cleaned
now. No worries.

OK! IT’S DONE! I’M DONE WITH HOUSEWORK FOR THE WEEK! Hahaha…. ok…
except that pile of ironing. If there’s one thing i hate, it’s ironing.
AHHHHHH…..

Fitting into the neighbourhood

hanging_clothes.jpg

We took a while to get used to living in a flat.

Both James n i have not been living in the heartlands for a while and
it has taken us a while to get used to having real neighbours that
would actually say hi. Our next door neighbour knows all the gossips
around and she gives me advice like don’t leave window open coz old men
might look in. Ah……..!

But we are slowly getting used to this and getting the hang of it.

Even moving out to hang our clothes in the corridor.

World’s getting smaller

Today we woke up and realised that the water supply got cut off coz
they were doing some pipe upgrading! Ahhhhhhhhhh…… the pains of
living in a HDB estate, plus all the drilling and knocking. i had to
brush my teeth with cold water from the fridge. Halfway through the
day, we had to go to toilet and went to the nearby shopping centre to
use the toilet. haha. When we were having lunch at windmill, we
realised we can save water and electricity bills by using the
facilities here! haha! We can come here on our off days, bring a book
to read and use the aircon n toilets! Our electricity bills have been
sky high mainly coz we use the dryer n the aircon most of the time. Yep
we’ve been trying ways and means to reduce the bills. heh… maybe
we’ll go over to ringo’s to use her shower. haha!

Few things have happened since i last wrote… best friend’s pregnant!
woo hoo!, gives me an excuse to go to europe next year, another
friend’s wrapping up their business n moving onto paris to set up shop
- our first missionary friends into europe, another excuse to head to
europe, and of course pris’ getting married may relocate to europe too!
Looks like we’re set to head to europe for holiday! haha. Dream dream
dream dream. But yes i’ll pray. :)

Siew Lin’s headed to shanghai for a year, had a good time catching up
with her and praying before she left. Bro’s thinking of staying in
Brisbane. With the reno happening at my parent’s place, Rach has
changed my previous room from yellow into orange! eeks! And they
removed the stars on the ceiling! Ahhhhhh! The ones my bro painfully
helped us put on secretly to give us a surprise. i was so touched! I
miss the stars. Latest news, a cousin of mine is getting married next
year woo hoo!

So exciting… seems like everyone’s living a really exciting life, at
least the people around me. The world seems to be getting smaller and
we have so many friends all over the world. Nowadays when people say
that they are going away to study for 4 years, it really doesn’t seem
so long anymore coz it’s still so easy to keep in contact thru blogs,
emails, msn, sms etc… Like when stef found out she was pregnant, i
knew it straightaway coz she called almost immediately! And she’s like
miles away. It really doesn’t seem so far away but i do miss her. I
think what i miss most is not being able to spend this time with her as
she goes through her pregnancy phase. Stefie, i miss you.

Dinner with the girls

dinner_w_jen_n_pris.jpg

Jen and Pris came over for dinner last week… first time i actually
cooked a proper dinner for guests since we moved. See i’m a newbie when
it comes to cooking. I actually bought a book called Cooking for
Dummies sometime ago but haven’t had time to read. But i managed to
whip up pasta, garlic bread (yes you can buy these at cold storage and
dump it in the oven), yummy thai-style marinated pork (courtesy of quek
family), veggies (cut and season, simple) all within an hour. It’s not
much fussy cooking but it was fun. To spice it all up, i even served
salt n vinegar chips and chocolates on the side. Dinner is not quite
dinner without music at our house so music for the night was this cool
cd called montparnasse – french music from the 30s which james bought.

It was a really good time just catching up before jen left for sri lanka.
