HoT cHicK N her FroG PriNce
Just a quick post…
We went to see a different PD today to get a different opinion. She did a thorough check on Sophie.
SOPHIE’S GOOD!
She put on 500 gms this time round. So now she’s 6.33kg!!!!!! YAY!!!! PD says that Sophie’s prob got our skinny genes coz she looks fine. Her neck is fine too, no tensed muscles, just need to monitor. The little bump on her eyelid is fine too. It’s like what i always get. It comes and goes.
This PD is much better… at least she gives credible advice. Thank God! What a relief!
I had quite a crazy day. Somehow everything happened to be on today.
I arranged for a routine health checkup (part of insurance) today some weeks back. Mums group was changed to today. And somehow blur me arranged to meet up w S n C tonite too!
But i had fun riding on the bus n MRT coz i haven’t done that since Sophie arrived. Had fun playing Snap w S n C. SNAP! Amazing how simple games like that can really draw out the little kid in me.
Sometimes mummy forgets to be a kid and how to have fun.
Sophie’s growing so fast and poor mummy me is not catching up as fast! Pant pant pant
Sophie’s schedule’s been changing the past week. I think it’s coz she’s growing, plus she’s onto solids now.
Change 1: WAKE UP EARLIER
Suddenly instead of sleeping from 6plus (after her feed) to 10am, she’s waking up earlier at 8.30 – 9, depending. She prob needs a lot less sleep now.
Problem >> The prob is that she always catch me by surprise. I’ll be happily making my breakfast, hoping to sit down, spend time praying and have breakfast, check out the forum, AND THEN I hear baby talking to herself…………… AWAKE!!!! Eeeeee… there goes my morning mummy quiet time.
Solution >> So now she has breakfast with James n i. Which means mummy here has to wake up a whole lot earlier if I wanna have my quiet time.
Change 2: MUMMY I WANNA PLAY!
She’s more awake now and loves to play. In fact now she’s willing to play with anyone. Which also means she is up for about 2 – 2 n half hours before she’s down for a nap.
Problem >> Mummy here is running out of ideas of what to do with her. There are only THAT many times i can sing This Little Light of Mine, ABC, Doe a Deer, He’s Able (with Actions!!), etc. Even if she’s not bored, I’m bored!
Solution >> Go for walk in the morning, watch a bit of TV (when i really cannot think of anything else), walk in the evening……. yes, all these in addition to the sing alongs n mat/tummy time. Thank God she’s quite independent and is willing to sit in her bouncer/on the mat for a bit on her own….
Change 3: Zzzzzzzzzz
She’s more DEEPLY ASLEEP AT NITE! She used to cry on and off after we put her to sleep at 7 and sleep soundly only after 10pm and she’ll get up at 3plus, 4plus to cry a bit. But past few nights she’s asleep quite soon after 7/8pm. I actually have to get her up at 10pm to feed and she’ll not make any noise till 5/6am. Looks like soon i can move the 10pm feed earlier! Yipee!
NO PROBLEM here! Heh…………
Sophie’s really enjoying her food and I’m having a lot of fun feeding her.
The rice cereal went really well so I’ve moved that to the evening feed and started to introduce carrot puree. All I do is steam the baby carrots, blend it, freeze it in ice cube trays. In the morning, she’ll have 1 cube of carrot puree mixed w formula milk. I agar agar one, no special measurement. She loves it!
MIL n FIL got to feed her cereals last nite and i think they had as much fun as she did! Look at her eager face…
Next up on the menu – PUMPKIN! thanks to a friend who passed me some… it’s really good to have fellow mummy friends, can share food coz babies eat SO LITTLE plus the food stuff are all perishables coz we want our darlings to have fresh food.
TV!!!!!!!!!!!
Now i know everything about The Arena, Dance Floor, SuperNanny, American Idol, Ellen Talkshow (I like), Tyra Talkshow (I don’t like), Random Acts etc…………. we’ve been watching A LOT of TV.
I mean it’s not like i really need to BUT it’s getting quite fun watching TV. When we didn’t have a TV, i didn’t feel like we missed out on anything. I think if i didn’t have a TV now, i wd still feel like we didn’t miss anything. But i have to say it’s still fun watching TV.
I’ve always maintained my stand about not letting Sophie watch random TV. But that day, she really whined and whined and i was alone in the house and i wanted to just have lunch in peace, so I did the taboo thing – I LET HER WATCH RANDOM TV. But it was amazing, seseme’s street was on so thank God.
That’s her watching TV. ![]()
This is Ian, Sophie’s babyroom friend at church. He shares the same birthday as Sophie!
Sophie likes him very much but he doesn’t seem to like her. Hmmmm… think James n i felt the pain of her rejection. heh heh… But she didn’t seem to mind leh, she just kept on reaching out for his hand.
Time to teach her how to play hard to get?!?!
I had a little ME time on Sat.
It’s quite BIG actually. I was out from 10plus till almost 2pm. All by myself.
I felt that I really needed some time out before i burn out. It hasn’t been very easy looking after Sophie full time, having her fully dependant on me, in addition to that, looking after the home plus supporting James etc… I felt like I was running out of steam taking care of others. Tired out emotionally and mentally… and it was starting to affect me physically coz of the lack of good sleep. I really enjoy doing it but it was just tiring being alert 24/7.
SOOOOOOOOOOO i asked James to help look after Sophie while I took some time out. IT WAS AMAZING!
I went to Vivocity. It took me a super long time to come to that decision.
Why Vivo?
1. In terms of cab money, it’s quite near.
2. I can watch the sea in the air con room. (VERY IMPT. Heh)
3. Space. I enjoy the wide aisles, esp in the morning when the crowds are not in yet.
4. There’s a bit of everything SO I can shop for clothes, books or groceries etc… if i wanted to.
I took a leisure walk to check out the mall, walked outside to sit facing Sentosa (in the HOT SUN! So shiok!), then decided to take up Vic’s suggestion n plonked myself at Pacific Coffee ?? (Forgot the name) and sat outside to enjoy the view, sip tea, had a pie n a magazine plus the Lent prayer booklet. So relaxing…………
Actually i didn’t want to do anything baby/home related BUT hiyah can’t help it lah… heh… went to Giant n got wet wipes and cereal for Sophie.
Think i might start to do this once a week!
Some things i learnt taking baby out alone today (In no particular order)
1. Do not get into a taxi with fat taxi driver. He will take a long
long time to come out of the taxi leaving one wondering if he’s ever
going to make it out. Very scary.
2. Put fav toy and pacifier in your handbag, make sure it’s right at the top in case baby cries, it’s right where you want it.
3. Put your handphone in your pocket, not in your bag coz when you need your phone you can never find it.
4. Wear clothes with pockets. You need to be able to put a
pacifier, baby towel, handphone, socks that dropped out etc… you get
the idea.
5. Do not carry your super duper diaper bag. Just pack what you need.
Which will end up being half of your super duper diaper bag. Which leaves
one wondering why we lug around our super duper diaper bag in the first
place. Maybe it is so that the other half have something important to
do.
6. Leave town before the office crowd gets out and taxi drivers change
shift! Unless you enjoy waiting at the taxi stand and people watching
and counting how many taxi providers there are in small small Singapore
for 1/2 an hour! (k, here’s where the toy in your bag comes in handy)
7. Make sure you have CASH for taxi money to and fro! Or else you will
have to stand in line letting others pass while you ask taxi after taxi
if they take credit!
Ok that’s it. That’s what i learnt today when i brought Sophie out to
meet the other forum mummies to go to the Babycare Fair at Suntec. The fair
was so so but it was really fun talking to the other mummies. Walk 2
steps, talk talk talk, walk another 2 steps, talk talk talk. Hardly did
any serious shopping. Heh.
But i managed to subscribe to 1 yr of Mother And Baby magazine which i
set out to do and chanced on a good buy on my way out. I bought a pair
of Shoo Shoos shoes for Sophie. IN RED! $15 instead of the usual $29.90! I really love them!
Best thing was Sophie was super well behaved! She actually sat happily
in her pram for almost 3 hrs. Super! Sometimes she really amazes me. Thank God.
We went for Sophie’s first all moks picnic at the park. Kent Ridge Park to be specific.
The original plan was to go to Cluny Park, one of our favs. But it started to drizzle so we gathered at SL’s place instead. When we got there, the rain stopped and Ah Jiak “chased” us out to Kent Ridge Park, which is just at the back of their place. Turned out to be such a beautiful idea!!!
So we had our little all Moks gathering (minus Elaine n Sharon coz they couldnt make it) with all my beloved cousins. Everything was nicely arranged coz we’re all picnic junkies. S had all the equipment plus SL’s. The cups had pretty covers and colourful straws!
SL made yummy tuna dip n like a super power punch. S made sushi n I made curry n brought fruits. SM was the photo gal.
Kel shared how he proposed to JY. We questioned our cousins’ other halves………… even gave SM’s bf, D, an initiation when Kel accidentally sprayed punch on D’s pants!!! D didn’t swear! That’s a good sign. hahaha… Btw it’s SL’s fault coz she put sprite into the punch and shook the tumbler!!!!!! ?!?!? What was she thinking?!?! Heh…
The best part of it for me was seeing everyone playing w Sophie and attempting to carry her and enjoying her presence. That really made my day.
Sophie, welcome to the wonderful tradition of the Allmoks party. You are blessed to be part of such a wonderful family. Just wished you got to see Ah ma.
