Missions Prep @ Serve

Spent today with the Serve group preparing for the upcoming trip to the
old folks home. Just realised how unprepared everyone was in their
hearts. i’m really glad we got down to pray and just spend time in
God’s presence. Really felt that we needed to get our perspective
right. Sometimes we can be so task oriented and just get on with
organising and fail to just be with the Lord and asking Him what He
wants. Also my fault for not being able to be with the team last week
to help them to prepare their hearts. But thank God for today lah.

The girls were so sweet. I got this little bag with a stuffed star with
glowing stars stuck to it from MS. SO SWEET! Thanks girl! Really sweet
of you… don’t worry k? Will keep praying for you… know you have
lots on your heart but the Lord knows each one and He’s watching over
you. Got this little heart thingy from Janice too. Thanks! That really
cheered me up coz the whole day i’m been feeling tired, nausea and lost
my appetite.

Being with you guys really raised my spirits and helped me turn my eyes
to the Lord. Thank God for all of you. I believe God’s gonna use us
mightily as we avail ourselves in the week ahead.

Please pray for us as we go on this mission trip from 16 Feb – 24 Feb to the St Andrew’s Home for the Aged.

serve 2006

it’s so cool to have my own laptop coz i can just update stuff as and when.

Anyways we’ve just finished a really long meeting for serve 2006. I’m
really excited. God seems to be anchoring us towards local evangelism.

This is something that has been on my heart quite a bit this year and
somehow believe that God is training & gearing us. Also reminded of
the 5pm prayer on fridays that we started w gerald, sk n ben. Not sure
how that’s gonna go but somehow God’s been kinda pushing me towards
local sch evangelism. And challenging n preparing the youths to go all
out to bring their friends. that’s why out of sch party. also excited
that the youths brought friends for the cluster party.

what’s up God? think i have a clue. :)

i’m excited! :)

i’m back!

I just got back from THE RACE – five days combined youth camp 2005.
This year we had a combined youth camp with 4 other churches. It was
amazing! 300 youths from different churches coming together. I learnt
so much.

I learnt n did so much
>abt patience, humility and holding my tongue
>abt being a youth pastor – loving with all my heart yet
disciplining when there is a need. i don’t think i’ve been so firm and
actually had to stand my ground so much. But i was really glad to see
them respond well. learnt so much from the other youth pastors n
leaders!
>boating! a new way of getting great arms!
>adopted a daughter! her mum’s the same age as me and she’s 12!
>had the opportunity to minister to so many of the youths. many whom have been far away from the Lord….. awesome time!
>heard so many great testimonies from the people around and how they
came to know the Lord really inspired me to keep spreading the gospel!
>had the opportunity to teach on hearing God’s voice! My pet topic!
Really thank God for those who came to share after about what God spoke
to them! Exciting! :)

One of the things i really thank God for is that i had the opportunity
to just be around for the girls without worrying too much about
logistical responsibilities. That actually freed me to be around those
who needed to talk. i could even participate in most of the activities
w my grp!

Also thank God that i had enuf rest and didn’t fall sick. In the past
few camps i’ve always fallen sick and even had to go home to rest but
this time round, i believe God sustained me.

It was great to see so many of the youth leaders at the camp serving
the young ones. They didn’t have to but they did. i think for them,
seeing their young ones respond to the Lord and coming up for altar
call was enuf reward for all the time they spent in the sun raraing and
prep work despite of exams.

It was for me. It made everything worth it.
It was an awesome time, pray that it’ll go deep.
Thank You Lord. It is You who makes the impossible possible.
We worship You.

Job change

james has just changed jobs.
here are some photos we took of his new workplace… and the new table they’ve fixed together for him.
Cool.

i’m back!

After a week of being sick, i went into a week of staff planning
retreat! Just got back today. It was really good, very refreshing
although we had like 3 sessions of planning each day from mon-tues.
intense. at first i was quite relectant to be there coz i was already
quite tired of meetings and more meetings but during the meetings, the
presence of the Lord was so strong that it just got more and more
exciting.

Anyways.. it’s good to be home. I miss home… gonna take a nap on my own bed!

Old workplace

ecquaria1_1.jpg

I went back to my old workplace today. We were around the area so i
thought i would bring Pastor Ian and Lydia there.

Ecquaria was so much a part of my
life that sometimes it’s hard to explain to the people, esp the youths
what exactly i did there. I did everything from running errands to
organising marketing events to business development to managing
partners to writing business plans to pitch for stories for the press
to design product collaterals etc etc…

I loved my job. I loved
working there. I loved the pace. I loved the industry.

Got to see KH, MH, Drq and others… made me realised how i miss
working in that relaxed environment. It was a lot of hard work, stress
and unexpected & irritating things happen BUT yet being able to
just kid around and laugh with friends made it a lot easier.

Coming back brought many memories… e.g. the company pool competition
i almost won coz everyone else was so “smart” and got the black ball in
but i lost to CY, my cubicle, the advertisement designs, good old
founders, skatescooters etc…

HeartBeat Junior Retreat

Our annual junior retreat is back! 20-22 June,
next week! The theme this year is THE LOVE STORY. We’re gonna share
about the greatest love story of all!

josco.jpg

The comm has gone down to Pasir Ris to recce the place and took cool photos.

Please do keep us in prayer esp for the comm – Angie, Josco, Hewlett,
Eve, Julia, Zac n myself as we plan and prepare. Pray that the youths
will really touch and experience the love of God. Pray for the
annointing of the Lord to be so strong upon us. The younger ones
haven’t really signed up, pls pray they will…

Youth Room

youth_room.jpg

Finally! We have our very own youth room! Currently we have 2 coms -
one mac, one PC. Hoping the youths will make use of it to work on the
videos they have been doing. Went to ikea to get rugs, throws, chairs,
cushions etc… Today the sofa went in. It’s gonna be nice and chill
out. We’re missing a few things – player and cds, guitar, posters
etc… Some have volunteered to go get it together with me so that’ll
be cool. Soon i’ll be highly tempted to move out of my office into the
youth room. :)

We’ve been meeting regularly on Thursdays and Fridays to pray in the
room. I believe that God’s gonna use this room to bring in people. Some
of the youths have already been bringing their friends to chill on the
fri after school. More Lord more!
